I am assuming ppl have heard abt this and dint find it amzingly gripping enuf (the first 4 books atleast) to start a topic..
Which i beg to differ.compared to this i found LOTR a lot less slow and not dark enuf.(i found it amzingly diffi to finish Fellowship of the Ring)

*warming up hands*
i am ready to fire the first salvo.

here goes.

i HATE this author,
like HATE HATE him.
like really.
how do i hate thee? let me count the ways.

1. He wrote 11 books. in ONE series!@!!!#L@:"$1' and its not yet over.
GAWD.

2. The first 5 books are awesome. mindblowing. fascinatin.
I read them in 1 week and stopped eating and sleeping. This was way bck in the summer hols after 10th std. Then read till book 7 .

3. Book 8 took over a year to come out. One of the three male characters disappears.

4. Book 9 took another year to come. our previiously mentioned hero still hasnt turned up.
Angry
At teh end of book 9, this massive event takes place. This is the cleansing of Saidin, the power that can only be accessed by males. Saidin had previously been tainted by the evil dude in the books. the tainted Saidin drove men, who tried to weild it, mad. so as u can guess, cleansing this enormous force is a big deal. but our intrepid hero(not the guy who disappeared) does it.
however, this happens at the end of the book, so u are left on tenterhooks. and the hero who disappeared puts in an appearance. some previously opened ends are tied up.

5. Book 10 comes out; eagerly anticipated. half way thru the 800 page book, you realise that , till now, we are still talking abt what everyone else(there are 3 major heos and 3 major heroines) was doing when Saidin was cleansed Exclamation

6. Book 6,7,8 opened up too many subplots. not all have been closed. did we really need to know the names of all the Aes Sedai who plot agianst the white tower?

7. The Forsaken who were killed, coming back with other names. how complicated can u get???

Evil or Very Mad
8. He wasted time inbetween books forming the series by writing 2 prequels.
Like who wants those mna? im waiting for books in the series.

THis series is only worth starting when he has finished writing it.
starting now will mean that u end up waiting for another 4 years at least for it to complete.

Join me. its been 7 years. still counting.

i dont know if you noticed Pegasus, but all of us have only positive htings to say about hte first 5-6 books. Its the PROMISE of these books that makes the let down in the rest of the series so bad.

And it only hurts that the series isnt complete, or anywhere near completion, with a min of 2+ more books in store. Also he averages a book every year and a half, sometimes with a gap of 2 years inbetween.

RIP Robert Jordan.
Sad though you could'nt finish the series.
Bet hundreds of WOTters are 'tugging their braid' right now.

It was a beginning but sadly there was no end to the series.
