What can i say.
They redefined what we call metal.
The band which most purists would say sounded better before they went commercial.
Their album black sold over a million copies undergroud. Which means no advertising just word of mouth.
the most renowned workof the album

Some eight years ago, I got a tape with assorted music on it. I would listen to selected songs from the tape everyday. That's when Metallica really grew on me... I didn't even know they were called "Metallica" then.
I've heard every single song they've made upto Garage Inc atleast a hundred times.. I still can't get bored of them ! |

I absolutely loved the black album. Went on to buy others...but sadly they don't stand up to it. _________________ The king is dead. Long live the king! |

Well...perhaps its a personal opinion.
I started listening to some newer bands just after listening to the black album. That might explain it. I still like the black album though.
Their music sounded kind of repetitive in Reload. _________________ The king is dead. Long live the king! |

aha.. metallica fans!
well.. each one has his opinion on the band.. and so do i.. but these lines from the Rolling Stone echo my sentiments.. well, almost!
My fav. is the toned down, but yet powerful S&M Album. Its a pity Michael Kamen died last year.. :(
Metallica
Genre: Thrash/Speed Metal, Rock/Pop, Alternative/Punk, Hard Rock, Metal, Alt Metal
Hometown: San Francisco, CA
One of the most influential, engaging, vital, enduring and just plain rad bands of the past two decades, San Francisco's Metallica rule all that is metal. Their inexhaustible energy and masterful riffage have the uncanny ability to compel metalheads, indie geeks, hippies and punks to simultaneously pump their fists in the air. Combining genre-defining Speed Metal with spit-in-your-face punk attitude, Metallica provided perfect crossover material for millions of disaffected youth, garnering the band a legion of fans as loyal as they are diverse. The late 1990s found the group shifting toward a stripped down, blues-heavy style. The change tested the resolve of some headbanging fans, but tens of thousands of Metali-friends new and old still show up to every sold out show, knowing that they will leave completely satisfied. |

Long Long ago, someone transferred NOTHING ELSE MATTERS - S & M Video, into my hard drive. And thats all it required for me to get into this. Then I tried Unforgiven -II, which was the only song in my playlist for 14 weeks. Some of my other favourite songs are:
One
Master of puppets
Until it sleeps
Enter Sandman
The Memory Remains
